Ubicada en la calle de Las Garzas, esta casa está construida sobre un terreno cuya proporción es muy alargada, siete metros de frente por 42 de fondo. Para este proyecto nos basamos en el estudio que realizamos sobre la arquitectura popular de San Miguel de Allende, su traza urbana y los diferentes callejones que se encuentran en el centro histórico. Con ese referente formé una especie de casa-calle que pudiera recorrerse desde el patio de la entrada hasta el patio final, atravesando prácticamente todo el terreno, sin necesidad de entrar a los cuartos. Se pensó en un callejón, el cual queda aún más dramatizado por la perspectiva en diagonal de los muros que se va cerrando mientras uno avanza hacia el fondo. Esto da una mayor sensación de longitud, se llega a sentir como un espacio exterior, gracias a la luz natural y a la vegetación en las paredes. Esto resulta en un espacio contemporáneo, con gran luminosidad y transparencia que va desde el patio de entrada hasta al patio posterior.
Located on the street of Las Garzas – the herons – this house is built on a plot with very extended proportions: seven meters across by 42 long. We based this project on the study we carried out on traditional architecture from San Miguel Allende, its urban layout and the different alleyways to be found in the old center of the city. With this reference, I made a kind of house-street that could be walked through from the entrance patio to the final patio, crossing almost the entire lot, without having to go into the rooms. We imagined an alleyway which is made ever more dramatic by the diagonal perspective of the walls that narrows as one moves towards the back. This gives a greater sense of length, and it comes to feel like an outside space, thanks to the natural light and vegetation on the walls. This results in a contemporary space, with high luminosity and transparency that goes from the entrance courtyard to the rear patio.
